Hey Coily Girls!!!  Happy Sunday!!!! I'm coming up on my 3 year Nappiversary!  (It will be 3 years since my BC on Memorial Day Weekend, but it has been FOUR YEARS since I last relaxed my hair!!)  I couldn't be happier with my decision!!!  You see how short I cut my hair. It has grown back, and it is longer than it was BEFORE I cut it!!!  When I had a relaxer, I NEVER experience growth. My hair was stuck at the same length for years.

It hasn't been an easy 4 years. I hated my hair when it was short. I felt very boyish!  It's a serious adjustment when you're used to feeling your hair on your shoulders. I still don't have it totally figured out. I have good and bad days, just like when it was relaxed, but I find it's easier to create a cute look on a "bad" hair day.

I've experimented with everything from Sta Sof Fro to Kinky Curly to Miss Jessie's, and I've learned that my hair is UNPREDICTABLE. What works for me one day may be a total failure the next!!!

I've also learned, (and this is SOOOO frustrating), that my hair takes forever to show its length. It shrinks up like crazy, especially after a trim, so I never really see my length until I do comparison pics like THESE!!!

I've learned that my hair is EXTREMELY DRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  When my hair needs to be washed, there is NOTHING I can do to prolong it. It's DRY and has no definition because it's THIRSTY. (pretty much!)

Summer is JUST AS BRUTAL on my hair as winter. The only difference is I don't HAVE to deal with it, if I don't want to because I can do wash and go's.  I haven't discovered a daily moisturizer YET that works better than raw shea, and even THAT can't combat my dryness when it's time for a deep conditioner.

I'm a complete PUNK when it comes to heat on my hair. I thought I would straighten it more than I have.  The idea of losing my curl definition just isn't worth the gamble!!! The funny thing is my hair is EXTREMELY easy to blowdry. A lot easier than when I had a relaxer. This was a SHOCK to me.

I've enjoyed my 4 years of natural hair, and I know I have influenced quite a few other people to do it.    Looking forward to many more nappiversaries!!!  :)

Congrats Lady!
I've always loved your hair. It's gorgeous. And I feel you about the growth thing. Since I've been natural, I've experienced more growth than ever.

Hey Luvbenet! Your fotki page was one of the first one's I found with hair similar to mine:) Your hair has grown so much! I love the coily pattern! Mine is only that way in the back. The middle is super tight and the front- does nothing! I am still cutting out patches from heat damage! Boy have I learned my lesson from that! I will probably update my fotki once school is out. I will be trying wash and gos for the first time! My fotki is still necoleg-I'll let you know when I update.

I meant to type "Big" fro, it was a typo...I apologize. I was complimenting you on the pictures showing the afro look.

@ Caramelnaps.... I had NO IDEA you and Necoleg are the same person!!! My Atlanta buddy!!! LOL I stopped by your Fotki a few days ago and saw you have a new camera! Your hair is really growing!!

@ Choc. Orchid.....I hate that mny natural hair doesn't show its length until it's straight though. Makes me feel like it's not growing, just like when I had a perm!

@OMB... thank you!!
